About 15 years ago, I found myself pestering my parents constantly with questions about our family history. My main goal was to learn about the health history of my family. My parents got fed up with my constant questions, handed me the family tree, and told me to look stuff up on my own (well, maybe not so crassly, but they did get tired of the questions and told me to do my own research).
What began as a search for answers regarding the history of health issues in my family quickly turned into an obsession of learning about my family history in general. I made a lot of rookie mistakes along the way (trusting other people's trees, not documenting where I found things). Now, I'm wiser and a much better researcher.
